1984 is now a Best Seller Once Again

George Orwell’s dystopian novel is a well-known classic. First published in the late 1940s, it describes an absolute reality, where everything is watched and controlled by a higher being, a leader, known as the “Big Brother”. Using propaganda, non-stop surveillance and other tools, he monitors the life of every single person and the society in general. The book is considered to be one of the most influential novels of all time. Today, in a fast paced reality with many recent political changes, 1984 is now again gaining popularity. Making the Best seller list again
Orwell’s piece is as fresh and as valid as it was when first published. The sudden rise in popularity comes just days after the “alternative facts” scandal regarding the new US President’s swearing in. Experts immediately compared it to the Orwellian “Ministry of Truth”, which was in charge of creating the truth, that was suitable for the government’s needs. Despite the book’s renewed success, let us hope, that we will not be able to say “1984 is now” soon.
